Another End

After losing Zoe, the love of his life, Sal lives only in fractured memories. At his sister’s urging, he turns to Another End, an AI technology that briefly revives the consciousness of the dead.

Zoe returns, inhabiting another woman’s body, yet Sal unmistakably recognises her. Given a short chance to love and say goodbye again, Sal clings to this fragile reunion. When it ends, he refuses to let her go, seeking Zoe in Ava, the woman who carried her consciousness, and questioning whether love can survive loss through another body.

Piero Messina manages to go beyond what’s typical for a genre usually limited by it’s Hollywood vices by putting the characters above the plot and offering a sentimentality more typical of italian cinema.
