Stranizza d’amuri
Stranizza d’amuri, a film directed by Giuseppe Fiorello, is set in Sicily in the summer of 1982, when all of Italy is taken by the World Cup in Spain, where the exploits of the Azzurri, dragged by Paolo Rossi are preparing to win the third world cup.
The story, inspired by a true fact, is that of Gianni (Samuele Segreto), a 17-year-old man without friends.
Gianni is gay and is bullied for this by some of his peers, silently suffering. The only person in whom Gianni finds comfort is his mother Lina (Simona Malato), who always supports him, even when she is forced to clash with her partner, Franco (Enrico Roccaforte), the owner of the workshop where Gianni works.
Gianni’s life, however, changes completely when he meets 16-year-old Nino (Gabriele Pizzurro). The two have an accident while they are both driving their scooters, but from this unfortunate event a great friendship is born, which soon turns into a feeling that the boys are forced to keep secret, for fear of the strong prejudice of those around them…
